Clan Lamont Society of Canada
Formed December 9, 1986 in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia


Members of the Registry of Joint Stocks in Nova Scotia. They are a member of the Federation of Scottish Clans in Nova Scotia. Their head office is located at 140 Zinck Ave. Lower Sackville, B4C 1W3.

The Lamont Society has some 68 names under it’s clan families. Most well known, are the colour names, Black, Brown, Blue, Lemon, White and Whyte, along with Blake, Clement, Lamb, Lamond, Lemmond, Lucas, Luck, Meikleham, Munn, Patrick, Sorley, Toward and Turner. The Society works to keep the Scottish culture alive in Nova Scotia and donates to such things as the Ship Hector, The Loch Broom Log Church, and various other cultural groups. They also keep alive their connection to Scotland by donating to the old mid-evil Scottish church at Tighnabruigh, Argyll, Scotland where many of the Clan Chiefs are buried.

The present day Chief, Father Peter Noel Lamont, resides in Australia. There are regular executive meetings and an Annual General Meeting in the fall each year. The Clan tent is always at the Halifax Highland Games and other Games sites.

A yearly Memorial Day is held for all who fell at the massacre at Toward Castle, and all Canadian Military and R.C.M.P. who have died in the line of duty. This event is held the first Sunday in June at the Fultz House Museum in Lower Sackville and is open to the public. A lunch and entertainment follow the service.
